After another weekend of small money losing shows Marls and I are wondering if we should be putting on these fall shows. CCGA started as a playday club in conjunction with the now defunct CCHA. We did playdays and then started putting on barrel races when some of our members started running barrels. We became affiliated with WHO so our members times would count for year end awards and to qualify for Interstate. I can tell you that the club makes more money and we work a lot less to put on barrel races and playdays. When I sent Marls the 2026 CCGA show schedule she said we needed to talk about slowing down for 2027. After we talked we decided to keep up with what we have been doing, but I am wondering if that is a great idea. I guess my question is, do WHO riders only want to have spring and summer shows so they can take time off after Interstate? Should we use our fall dates to put on a playday series with 4 events and no teams since the riders can use their times by sending them in themselves? Should we just switch to barrel races so we get to leave early like the past couple shows, but don’t lose money in the process? These options would mean a lot less work for us, and we wouldn’t be scrambling for judges and timers so we can still ride. If it hadn’t been for David who even though he is hurting and going in for an MRI and Cody, Candy and I would have been the only judges there on Sunday. We have Brenda and Susan working to become timers but we were sometimes having to back them up while holding our horses before or after running on Saturday. Sunday we lucked out with timers because Pam and Tanya were there to help. That gave us less stress and those of us that are timers could make our runs and then put our horses away before heading back out to work. Once again, we had great arena help but WHO requires certified judges and timers to run a show and that seems to be a problem that we can’t seem to find a solution for. Since I don’t do Facebook, Marls will be posting it and she will let me know if any of you have any comments or suggestions about some of these things I have talked about here. If you want to respond to me directly you can send me an email. It would be great to hear back from the riders about some of my questions and comments. Again, I’m only talking about CCGA here and we are trying to figure out what’s best and easiest for us.             Thanks, Tully
